To help develop an explosive first step, try some of the following plyometric exercises:

  • Jump Rope with Feet together (100 counts)
  • Broad Jump for 10 yards up & back (3 sets)
  • High Knee Skipping for 40 yds (3 sets)
  • Step ups on a bench or small box (20 times)
  • Jump over stationary ball side to side & front to back (50 times)

Any type of activity that involves jumping quickly with numerous repetitions will develop the leg muscles needed to become more explosive.  Use your imagination and make it fun!
